Hamilton Board Award Winners

Although most of our awards are recognized annually at the AGM in May, we would be remiss not to congratulate the following award recipients:

Jeff Rose – winner of the Jim Lyle / Bob Wilmot Dedicated Official Award. This award is given out each year to a deserving individual (official) who exemplifies what being a part of the Hamilton Board is all about. It is generally presented at our AGM, however Jeff was not able to attend the AGM last May because…..he was officiating! Now that’s dedication!

Guy Cipriani – at the OABO (Ontario Association of Basketball Officials) AGM in September, “Cip” was awarded with Lifetime Honourary Membership in our provincial association, joining previous Hamilton Board recipients Kitch MacPherson and Ron Foxcroft. Honourary / Life Member status is granted to individuals who have made a significant contribution to basketball officiating as an official or a supporter of officials.

Paul Johnson – At a ceremony in September, Paul Johnson was awarded the Ron Foxcroft Fair Play Award at the Hamilton Sports Volunteer Appreciation Awards & Dinner. (Yes, the award is named after Hamilton Board member Ron Foxcroft.) This major award is presented to an official (from any sport) who has demonstrated tremendous dedication to the principles of fair play and played a leadership role in the development of sport officials.

Congratulations to all!
